Robert Panes has been in the investment industry since 1979, when he joined a major Canadian firm after completing a degree in Economics at the University of Western Ontario. He remained at that firm until November of 2005, when he joined GMP Private Client.
Rob believes that proper asset allocation is the most important step in the money management process. This decision is made through a consultative process with the client which identifies the client’s risk tolerance, income requirements and long term financial goals.
Once the Asset Allocation is determined, Rob uses a disciplined stock selection process for buying and selling securities. It is a process employed by some of Canada’s largest pension fund and institutional money managers, and helps to eliminate the emotional aspects of trading. Fixed income securities are purchased with the help of GMP’s in house bond trading professionals.
Rob has completed all of the necessary courses required by the Canadian Securities Institute for full licensing. He is also licensed as an Associate Portfolio Manager, which allows him to manage client portfolios on a discretionary basis. Rob is also licensed by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario to sell Insurance products.
